We can’t deny,Our fair city of  Edinburgh is a great city to live in. We have an abundance of outdoor space, beautiful views, historic buildings, a buzzing art & design scene and an ever expanding collection of coffee shops, bars and eateries, which means we’re always spoilt for choice.

It also proves to be a great inspiration for artist and designers in the city. We love to see the different ways in which our artists capture Edinburgh; and why not take home a unique piece of art to remind yourself of your time in the city?

Susie Wright’s collection of beautiful Limited Edition Screen Prints are the perfect reminder. With different views from across the city, we’re sure you’ll find your favourite spot in her collection. Susie has just released a New range of limited edition Screen Prints including one of Unesco World Heritage Site. The Forth Rail Bridge. It’s a true Icon, but technically not in Edinburgh.  We do love a day trip to South Queensferry to take in the views, and have a walk along the seafront.

Old Town Bikes by David Fleck is a popular choice for the bicycle lover. David was approached by the creator of The Edinburgh Harris Tweed Ride to illustrate his great collection of bikes against the back drop of Edinburgh. The Old Town has played host to numerous bike races over the years. For those of you that have cycled over the cobbles, you’ll know it can be a little hairy at times!

Voyages over Edinburgh continues to captures the hearts of visitors to Edinburgh. This print illustrates a day, way back in the late 1700’s when Edinburgh’s sky was filled with hot air balloons for the very first time.  This tale caught David Fleck’s imagination as it must have been a pretty magical and inspirational sight for most the capital’s residents.

Why not carry this beautiful image with you everyday in the shape of one of his laser etched iPhone cases?These are part of the Joy Collection with his sister Claire Fleck.

Cacti-Things are getting Prickly!

We’re loving being surrounded by lots of greenery in the gallery at the moment. both real and man-made! It makes it feel like summer might just be round the corner in between all the rain showers

We have a few cheeky wee Cati that we’re trying to keep alive. They’re hanging out in the lovely new Macrame hangers that we have from Concrete Sweet. Tessa, the lady behind our new lust worthy products is based in our fair city and makes these macrame hangers as well as beautiful hand made concrete bowls. Her bowls are made from left overs from her husband’s concrete worktop business. The upcycling doesn’t stop there, Tessa’s larger Macrame hangers are made from recycled T-shirt yarn. A very cool Eco product.

We are delighted to welcome our new neighbours to the street!  The Cambridge Satchel Company boasts an incredible range of 100% leather bags, all make right here in the UK.This brilliant design shop, makes a welcome addition to the ecclectic mix of design shops, fine restaurants, yummy coffee shops, fashion boutiques and charming antiques all sharing our World Heritage site home, Victoria Street, Edinburgh.It is fair to say that Victoria Street retains some of the charm of yester year, whilst housing contemporary boutiques.  It is rich with history and tales, apparently at one time some of the buildings on West Bow resembled upside-down pyramids so some changes, like new neighbours, are always welcome Do pop by for some inspired shopping if you are out and about in Edinburgh this weekend!

Distracted Easter Bunnies

It’s almost Easter Weekend, I’m sure most of you are looking forward to the mini holiday, with lots of Chocolatey Treats to indulge in . Hopefully the Easter Bunny hasn’t gotten too distracted like these HAM Bunnies have.

With the rise of Craft Beer and numerous small independent breweries opening up across the world. Artists seek inspiration from one of their favourite tipples.

As beers fight to be seen in niche shops and bars across the globe. Many breweries are now seeking the work of local artists and illustrators to design their labels. We’re a sucker for a nice label and definitely feel the pull for artistic flair in the beer isle.

One artist currently selling work behind our Red Doors has paired up with a local bar to design labels and other illustrated goodies to help them stand out from the crowd.

Hannah Botma, who you all know and love for her Dinosaur prints, also works as Creative Director at Hanging Bat. Designing everything from Labels to Signage within their bar and sister bar Spit/Fire. If you’re after a good beer on your next visit to Edinburgh then these are two highly recommended stops for their great selection of local and world beers.
