Autumn Woolies At The Ready🍁🍂

Autumn Woolies Blog at The Red Door GalleryIt’s September and after a somewhat lack lustre Summer we seem to be heading straight into Autumn; as the leaves start turning and the temperatures drop to single figures.

In Scotland we seem to be able to DO Autumn and Winter pretty well. We love log fires, brisk walks in the cold air and of course stocking up on beautiful new knitwear to keep us cosy. With that thought in mind, we’ve just had a delivery of beautiful new knitwear by Orkney based Mixter Maxter Knitwear. All designed and made right here in Scotland.

Mixter Maxter Knitwear Twist ScarvesWhat’s does the name mean? Well Mixter Maxter a scot’s slang for ‘A bit of a jumble’ and the collection is all about a cacophony of colour and pattern in knitted lambswool. Kirsteen the designer behind the brand, wants to bring fun and vibrancy to the scottish weather and we can guarantee these twist scarves are sure to put a smile on your face on even the coldest of days.

To The Left is a staff favourite we love the bold graphic lines and colours of the VIK range, available in 3 striking colour combinations.

Her modern take on Scottish Tartan has been catching eyes since it’s arrival. Available in a variety of bold colours paired with classic charcoal, there’s a colour for everyone.

The range also comes with beautiful matching mitts which will be arriving over the next month or so. Making sure you stay stylish and cosy on those brisk Autumn Walks.

St MargaretWe love a walk up Arthur’s Seat on an Autumnal Day. It’s a great escape, only a a short walk for the hustle and bustle of city life. The views from the top reach across to Fife and the North Berwick Coast. The Lindstrom Effect’s new print St Margarets Loch captures perfectly the mood on a cold winter’s day. This was part of our summer exhibition The Crag and Tale. Which you can read all about here.

An escape from the city to a Scottish Mountain is always a good idea. This print by Susie Wright has us wanting to escape on a cold crisp morning. If you’re lucky you might just spot a beautiful Stag on your adventures.

We like to take notebooks and sketch books with us on our Advenures. It’s the perfect time to relax, sketch the beautiful scenery, take some all important life notes or just have a wee doodle 🙂 These winter inspired notebooks are the perfect fit, nice and lightweight so you’re not lugging anything too heavy around with you.Scandi Woodland Notebook by Ohh Deer“If you go down to the woods today you’re sure of a big surprise”Scandi Woodland Notebook by Ohh Deer

If Winter Adventures are always on your mind but you maybe don’t get the chance to head off on them quite as much as you’d like, why not keep your adventurous spirit alive with these cute pins and earrings by Hello Sunshine.

Adventure Awaits at The Red Door Gallery

Get that hygge feeling and enjoy the cooler months ahead, wrapped up in the cosiest of knitwear. We’re off to put the fire on! 🔥
