This week we sadly said goodbye to Kate, our super star team member who has been part of The Red Door furniture for as long as we can remember. Kate, who runs super sweet stationary label sunlightonclosedlids will be moving down South, most likely taking over the world with her designs, sipping cups of tea and eating sticky buns. We have loved Kate being part of the team and still don't know how things will run quite as smoothly without her. Above are a few things that remind us of Kate. Best of luck Kate and Matt. xxx

Our browsers are full of Hello Marine prints after a parcel arrived this week. Along with some old favourites, we have some brand new prints from her recent Freakshow exhibition. 'Beared Lady' and 'Trapeze' fitting perfectly alongside some of the more risky Fringe shows that surround us. Thanks Marine!

With the festival in full swing, Edinburgh has become even more entertaining and colourful! Perfect to photograph with our new edition to the galleries lomography collection, the 135 Holga, a mini version of the original Holga which also takes the standard 35mm film. Be sure to record your memories in style!

With the Edinburgh festival taking full flight over the weekend, we thought it was fitting to show you all this amazing print from Red Door new comer David Fleck. His 'Skating' print flew out our doors last week, which was no surprise to us. At £50 each, these prints are a timeless reminder of Edinburgh's unique Old Town cityscape. Never fear if you missed out on our first few copies; we are due to receive more of this distinctive print at the beginning of the week.

We received a lovely email yesterday from a customer who managed to snap this great shot whilst visiting Edinburgh and The Red Door in April. Not only is it a cracking shot, but one which the customers loved so much, they are framing to hang alongside their TV. We thought it was so sweet that they loved the photo so much, and even sweeter that they decided to share the story with The Red Door team. Thanks!

The lovely Vala is one half of The Lindstrom Effect whose enchanting black and white prints and crocheted treats we show all year round, has another project on the go! Vala is a master knitter and along with her colleage Jo, is offering to teach you how to Knit your very own Bunting! Three evenings in The Broughton Deli, Edinburgh with piles of sandwiches, tea and The Lindstrom Effects latest works on show to keep you happy if you drop a stitch. No doubt your eyes may have already seen this beauty of a music video for Benni Hemm Hemm’s “Retaliate”. Wonderfully illustrated and animated by Michael Kirkham and Vivien McDermid, we believe it is worth shouting about again, and again,.......and again. Benni Hemm Hemm's acoustic driven notes synch perfectly hand-in-hand with the duos stunning visuals.

We like to think of The Red Door Gallery as a temporary home for all the artwork and objects we are provided with - almost a stopgap on the way to their final homes, which in Scotland might just be a tenement flat. With this in mind, we constructed 'Half Way Home', a show created from Finch and Fouracre's Tenement Model Kits which have been customised by a selected group of artists.

Beth Fourace and Franki Finch are Glasgow based model makers who have created some charming and intricately detailed model kits of Scottish Tenements. These objects have become very popular with Red Door customers over the years, which sparked the idea to run a window display of customised tenements by a group of talented artists. Each tenement exudes an artists own personal style and creativity, turning it into a one off piece of art for our customers to buy and take home.

Each Tenement is lovingly customised and available to purchase in a pricing range between £35 and £75 depending on how intricate each design is. Just in are a fresh new batch of Jane Blease brooches - large or small, red, yellow or blue, and all the colours in between, these are a little slice of handmade goodness.

The Creative Duo at Finch & Fouracre have just sent us their delightful new model kit of an ice-cream van to keep that summer feeling even though the sun may not be shinning! What a great thing to do on a rainy afternoon (followed of course by a delicious ice-cream!)
