Everyone at the
gallery here is starting to look forward to August when the International Festival takes place and makes Edinburgh one of the best places to be in the world! Some of us are particularly looking forward to
The Poet Speaks on the 13th of August when Patti Smith and Philip Glass will come together once again to celebrate the works of the beat poet Allen Ginsberg through poetry and music! It's bound to be a monumental occasion to cherish, it's not everyday the work of three great New Yorker's come together in the centre of Edinburgh!

It was amazing. Even Patti can't quite whip a middle class Edinburgh audience into a frenzy, but it was a wondrous night. Some Patti songs, much Ginsberg read with great passion by Patti and accompanied with terrific sensitivity by Philip Glass - who played a superb sequence of three solo pieces for piano - and a surprise bonus of three RLS poems from A Child's garden of Verses, read exquisitely. And the charm wound up with a mighty rendition of Footnote to Howl. Still smiling, still high.
