Ponoko has been establishing itself for a few years now as a website that specialises in laser cut objects. Nothing totally new there, but the truly great thing about these guys is that you can be a buyer or seller! Whether you have some great designs up your sleeve and need a manufacturer or just want to buy some great imaginative pieces from independant designers, then this is the site for you. Some of my favourites are above - the Typographic Kern Ring Set (£7.50), Ruskian Fortress £270 or I Love Tea felt coasters (£13.50). There really is just way too much to look at!

Not our usual post today, but I couldn't help but there share this amazing video shot in and around Edinburgh. This guy is awesome!

For many of you Donna Wilson needs no explanation - she is one talented lady making some absolutely gorgeous things. She has also just relaunched her website which is now filled with even more of her wonderful wares. At the moment I'm drooling over her mini blabla blanket and fox cushions - I think a new Donna Wilson order is in order!

Perhaps its because I am busy nesting, but I cannot seem to keep my attention away from great ideas for children and the guys from Juju Books have some beauties!
The Finnish team have produced two gorgeous books - Juju focusing on clothing and Maja looking at creative projects to keep children entertained for hours. Published entirely in Finnish (sorry - I can't translate) these books are so creative and fun they bring out the child in all of us. How wonderful is the magic forest/bedroom/playroom - if only I could create an adult version!

If you haven't checked out the hilarious New Math website, then today is the day to do it. There is so much goodness on here it will be sure to make your day!

I'm not exactly sure how I missed the release of this great book at the end of last year, but I did, which means to some of you, this may seem like 'old news'. Hopefully there are still a few of you out there that will be full of excitement at the idea of exploring 'Handmade Hellos' from our favourite card supplier Hello Lucky. This book includes a huge number of greeting card craft projects from an equally large group of contributing artists. I couldn't pick my favourites (that task is just far too difficult for me today) so I have just posted a couple that I really really liked. Above is one 'Ahoy There' postcard by Kate Sutton and one hillarious humpty dumpty card from The Small Object.
This book is a must for those of you who like creating lovely things on rainy days, so if thats you, then this is a must for your bookshelf or coffee table!

I vividly remember painting peg people as a kid whilst staying with my Granparents. It entertained us kids for hours on end which is why I developed a huge grin on my face when I stumbled upon the Naked Peggies etsy shop.
These guys not only produce famous characters, but will happily customise a peg to look your family or loved ones, giving you a truely unique set of little peggies. Hmmmm - now to just think of what superhero I have always longed to be!

Our favourite Fife artist Mike Inglis has just launched his very own blog to showcase his work. We hosted a solo show of Mikes here at The Red Door last year and can't wait to see what new goodies he is coming up with.

Happy Good Friday everybody. We hope you all have a relaxing and restful day. For those of you who love a craft DIY project, head along to craft queen Martha Stewarts website which has some super fun Easter recipes, decoration ideas and ways to decorate eggs! We found the projects above just adorable - Happy Easter!

There really is something to be said about an Easter Egg that not only tastes delicious (and lets face it, what chocolate doesn't) but also puts a big smile on our faces and this 'Mr Potato Head' Easter treat does just that! Available from either Waitrose of John Lewis, this treat will set you back a good £12, but to be honest, I can't think of a more attractive and fun egg on the market!

We got a lovely email this week from Makato Yamada who recently wrote an article on 'Unknown Scotland' for the website 'Japanese Design Net' which featured The Red Door. Thanks for the mention Yamada - I wish I could say that my Japanese was good enough to read the whole article.

The lovely Melanie emailed us a link to some tasty treats this morning in the form of the wonderful website - Pimp That Snack! If you have a sweet tooth, then it really doesn't get any better than this. Full of larger than life creations for just about every treat you can think of, this website will get your stomach rumbling and oven begging you to bake something of such substance. My favourite pimped snacks so far are the massive 'Cream Da La Creme' egg and the ever popular Jammy Dodger which looks like something I would demolish very happily indeed!

The day a lovely big box of Belle and Boo goodies arrives compares to Christmas here at The Red Door and yesterday was one of those days. Just in are loads of badges, prints, mirrors, wrapping paper and greetings cards. We also have the brand new print 'Walk With Me' (above) in store.
Thanks Mandy and Tracy - we had big Belle and Boo smiles all day!

I always love coming across fun new webshops that I haven't seen before, so I had a grin a mile wide when I came across RE-foundobjects. Started by two fashion graduates back in 2003, their bricks and mortar shop began out the back of a filling station in Corbridge, North East England. We are lucky enough now to be able to do our shopping online too which allows us to paw over all their gorgeous goodies - vintage welsh blankets (above), kitchenware, old sign and gardening tools all help make up their ecclectic mix of products on offer.

Owners Simon and Jenny agree their is 'no point attempting to shoehorn the range of RE's stock into a paragraph, but if you do need a plaster Virgin Mary and a bottle of the best bubble bath in the world, this is the place.'

Emily Hogarth popped in yesterday with some new prints and another copy of 'Edinburgh', the lovely piece above. There has been a few of you enquiring about this piece - and yes it is stunning in real life and one of an edition of just 5. At £90 this is a bargain. Emily was also featured in this month Skinny mag as 'one to watch' and we fully agree!

Jamie from Broken Toy posted another fab product in the post to us this week - the fun and useful pop.dot postcard! We all remember popping our way to make pictures at primary school, but now we can pop our very own message, pattern or image to friends in the form of a lovely postcard. Each plywood postcard is packaged in a cellophane envelope with instructions and sample sheets printed on tracing paper. They are in stock both online and instore and can be yours for just £7.50 each. Poptastic!

I think its time to introduce y'all to one of our favourite bands; FOUND, as they make their debut at the huge SXSW festival in Austin, Texas. Based in Edinburgh, this 5 piece 'Electro-Art-Glitch-Pop' group have been making waves all over the Europe over the last few years and steadily gaining a rather large following from fans all over the globe. Their self-released debut ‘Found Can Move’ earned them an impressive amount of UK national radio play, video clips on MTV Europe and an exclusive live session in the legendary ‘Beatles Studio’ at Abbey Road for US radio station U-Pop XM 29. These guys know how to make noise sound great and will be taking this unique sound to all the folk in SXSW and New York over this coming week. If you can't get to Austin (and lets face it, we would all love to be there) you will just have to check these guys out via their website, myspace or at one of their next live gigs (which cements their amazing abililty, as live shows from FOUND are legendary). Best of luck in Texas guys!

Long time exhibitor at The Red Door, Lucy Gough has just finished the sweetest series of new photographic digital prints. All in editions are limited to 50 and are a steal at £40. The bright colours are also great at putting us in wonderful cheery moods. Thanks Lucy!

Its another gorgeous sunny day here in Edinburgh - it almost feels to good to be true! We are bouncing around in Spring mode with the doors wide open and the sun streaming in. Above are some photos of what our street and shop looks like today. Hopefully you will have already walked past and seen the fab Fun Makes Good furniture display in our left window. Both one off pieces of reconditioned furniture are for sale!
