Flower Power! 🌼

windowstreetPhoto taken on a much more spring like day, earlier this week 🌞

It’s a dull rainy day outside. But behind our red doors, our flower game is strong🌺. After the hugely successful workshop at the Monkey Business Themed Museum Lates . We’re still buzzing from seeing all the wonderful head dresses you made in our East End Press workshop. We’ve now got flowers and jungle vibes on the brain. You kinda need them to get you through these dull days. Come on Spring!

Someone else we know who loves a pretty flower or two, is our lovely mum! If she’s not so much the green fingered type, we have lots of flower power gifts for her this coming Mother’s Day. (Sunday March 26th – next Sunday!)

Our window is currently showing off all manner of tropical goodness. We’re quite partial to a palm or cacti, not only do they look pretty, they’re relatively easy to care for. (who can kill a cacti? raises hand sheepishly 🙋)

cheese plant screen prints, perfect for the non green fingered amongst us

If like us, you’re not so green fingered, why not fill your walls (or your mums walls) with lots of tropical plants and leaves? We love the new prints that have arrived from Hello Marilu. Areca Palm, Cheese Plant and Cacti prints beautifully screen printed in gold foil.

Gorgeous screen printed jungle theme Tote Bag, all sent for the sunnier months ahead with this gorgeous tote by Atomic Soda

We also can’t get enough of the new range of bags and travel accessories by Atomic Soda. They’ve got us thinking about those balmy summer days (I’m sure we’ve maybe had one or two of those days in Scotland right? 🤔) Well we may not have them that often in Scotland, but why not treat your mum to this colourful collection to brighten up her day, no matter the weather.

Charlotte, the lady with the flower power, forever inspiring

A staff favourite is the beautiful Charlotte by And Smile. Such a colourful and inspiring lady we’d love to meet. She’s part of Viktorija’s ever expanding collection of strong ladies. A picture so full of colour, she’s sure to be at home amongst the wild flowers.

Flower Power Goodies for your beautiful mum!

It’s so difficult to narrow down our collection of flowery goodness in to just one blog. Head on over to our Instagram page to see our favourite flower pics alongside the wonderful East End Press head dresses from the Museum Lates workshop

We have to end our blog on the sunniest flowers of them all, Mr Sunflower. Here he is transformed in to a super cute enamel pin, just waiting to brighten up your day on your favourite lapel. We Got This Ladies!

international womans day with all these inspirational ladies who rock

It’s International Women’s Day. A day that has been celebrated since 1911. Let’s stand tall with all those inspiring ladies in our lives both past and present. Let’s be roll models for the little ladies of the future and let them see they can go out and achieve whatever they want and to use their voice for the greater good.

In 2017 the fight is stronger than ever to be whoever and whatever we want to be no matter our gender. Ladies and men across the world have been fighting the good fight for gender equality for years, let’s keep spreading the word. We Got This Ladies!

Strong female figures have been a massive influence to artists and designers around the world, many of the artists behind our Red Doors have brought their love for them alive in print. Here are some of our favourites from behind our red doors.

Well Behaved Women Rarely Make History! Princess Leia, the kick ass princess we all wished we were. A great roll model for all ladies past and present. The late Carrie Fisher was well known for championing Women’s rights. We’re sure she would have loved this print. The perfect print for the strong ladies in your life.

Showing us all you can be whoever you want to be. The much loved Jessica Fletcher in Murder She Wrote, played by Dame Angela Lansbury. Fictional writer turned super Sleuth solving crimes faster than the detectives could. Super lady herself Victorija of And Smile illustrates fabulous strong women both fictional and well known.

Another inspirational lady, beautifully illustrated by Viktorija is the late great Frida Kahlo. A strong female figure respected the world over.Frida Print

Frida once said about herself:

“I used to think I was the strangest person in the world but then I thought there are so many people in the world, there must be someone just like me who feels bizarre and flawed in the same ways I do. I would imagine her, and imagine that she must be out there thinking of me, too. Well, I hope that if you are out there and read this and know that, yes, it’s true I’m here, and I’m just as strange as you.”

A strong statement that many of us can relate to, from a unique and colourful lady. Wear your love for Frida with pride in this cute pin by And Smile

The much loved Gemma Correll has touched many a heart with her illustrations depicting the everyday life of being  a women, warts and all.

worrier pose or warrior pose, its all the same for us introverts and gemma correll has captured us perfectly

It sometimes feels like she’s reading our minds. She makes us feel like we’re not alone  with her quirky style, and that we can all feel a little socially awkward sometimes.

perils of overthinking, notebook, gemma correll, ohh deerI’m sure many of us can relate to The Perils of Overthinking.

We love thi range of ceramic brooches and bowls by Rebecca Brown, With so many amazing facial expressions they are so hard to choose from. These ladies look like pretty cool cats that couldn’t really give a f**k!  🙊 We’re pretty sure they would love to hang out on your lapel or jumper though. They’ve got the glare down perfectly. Daria would be proud! These are available from the gallery and will be online this week. we got this ladies by Heather More

We have to end this blog on the super new card arrival by Heather More. It’s inspired this blog title and really hits home on what today has been about. We got this ladies!
